Vance County Schools serves the educational needs of approximately 6,400 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Our professional staff is committed to providing the knowledge, skills and opportunities for our students to "compete in an ever-changing global community." Our community takes great pride in our schools and through its financial support, provides opportunities for all students to experience success and to prepare for the future.

Highlights Include:

  • 7 schools improved their overall proficiency on EOG/EOC Tests
  • The district exited low-performing district status and maintained that for the 2nd consecutive year
  • Clarke Elementary Schools earned an SPG of B and Met Growth; improved overall proficiency by 5 points
  • Zeb Vance Elementary School earned an SPG of C and Exceeded Growth; improved overall proficiency by 5.2 points
  • E.O. Young Elementary School Met Growth; improved overall proficiency by 5.9 points
  • L.B. Yancey Elementary School earned an SPG of C and Exceeded Growth; improved overall proficiency by 12.9 points
  • Dabney Elementary School earned an SPG of C and Met Growth
  • Over 3,300 students met or exceeded the benchmark for proficiency in grades 3-8 on EOG tests
  • E.M. Rollins Elementary School successfully opened as a RESTART School on August 1 – E.M. Rollins STEAM Year-Round Academy
  • The Early College High School earned an SPG of A+, Exceeded Growth, improved their overall proficiency by 7 points
    • 100% graduation rate
    • 36/ 49 (73%) graduates of the VCECHS earned an Associate's degree along with their high school Diploma
    • 8/36 (22%) earned 2 Associate's degrees
  • AdVance Academy
    • Earned the designation of Progressing – This is the highest level awarded in the states Alternative Accountability Model
  • The district's graduation rate was 82%
    • The 4th highest in the region and continues on a positive trend
  • The dropout rate fell to 2.02%
    • 2nd lowest in the region
